Natasha and Miguel's wedding in Puerto Rico-4/11/10

I recently had the wonderful pleasure to travel to Puerto Rico (on a whirlwind trip I might add!) to photograph Natasha and Miguel's wedding! We arrived at the Villa Montana in Islabella at 3:00am on Saturday morning and we were up by 10:30 ready to explore! The weather was probably in the 90's that day but coming from Maine it felt really good. After walking the beach and grabbing some food, we caught up with Natasha and Miguel in their villa to discuss the next day. Neither one of them had ever been to the resort before so the shots were pretty much in my hands (I had never been there either!). Of course the next day came and went and 1000 images were shot and the wedding looked like something out of a magazine! So FUN! Here are a few album pages from the album that I am making for the resort. Enjoy! Oh and...here is a little movie I made about our trip (I'm not a movie maker but click here if you dare!

Workshop with David Beckstead

I recently had the amazing opportunity to train with one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world, David Beckstead. He has an amazing artistic eye and really shoots outside of the "safe zone" which is what he is all about in his workshops. It happened to be a rainy day in Maine (something we encounter quite often) so it was actually much more helpful to me than if it was a sunny day. We photograhed models in an old warehouse in Brunswick with just natural light. This also happened to be the day that I had to leave to shoot a destination wedding in Puerto Rico so my time was precious...but I wasn't going to miss this chance and I didn't. I made my flight to Puerto Rico that night and all was well. You will read about that in my next blog post!

Bridget and Dan's wedding Church Landing Meredit, NH! 3/6/10

It was my honor and pleasure to be a part of Bridget and Dan's wedding on 3/6/10 in Meredith, NH! What a sweet couple! They were hoping for snow for their photos but instead we got 50 degree weather! Not bad for early March. The colors were ocean blue and ivory. The girls wore Uggs and wraps for the outdoor photos. I love originality! DJ Dave Dionne entertained us into the night and the dance floor was always full of smiling people!

Two Engagement Shoots in One Day!

I was honored to photograph the engagement sessions of Erin and Justin and also Rachel and Greg in the Old Port on February 13, 2010. No two sessions are ever alike but I do have a few of my favorite spots when we are shooting in the Old Port! They were both delightful (and looked strikingly similar too!) I look forward to photographing Erin and Justin on 10/10/10 and Rachel and Greg on 8/7/10!

My (yes my) wedding!

Well...I was able to get away during my slow season and GET MARRIED. Yes that's right I ran away with my fiance Dave and had a destination wedding in Maui, Hawaii on January 12, 2010! The photos that I have posted were taken by Dot Freeland on the day of the wedding (not me of course!) Now that being a bride is fresh in my mind, I will be sure to keep in mind a few things when doing other couples' weddings. I really did learn a bit being on the other side of the camera (like I was ready for her to be DONE so we could go eat!!!) :) We had a wonderful time!!!

Amber and Florent New Years Eve The Eastland Park Hotel!

The wedding of Amber and Florent took place at the Eastland Park Hotel on New Years Eve 2009! Their beautiful wedding colors of ruby red and formal black looked amazing! DJ Dave Dionne did a fantastic job keeping everyone dancing well into the next year. What a party! American music with Albanion music kept the guests smiling and dancing all night! Dave and I felt like part of the family! I was very honored to be a part of this magical night!

Amy and Brendan 12/19/09 Rockledge, Florida!

This destination wedding was a spectacular one! Maine's own DJ Dave Dionne and I traveled to Rockledge, FL to a gorgeous private home on the Atlantic Ocean side of Florida. The amazing southern hospitality we experienced made us feel right at home! The temps in Florida were in the 50's that day so it actually felt more like Christmas in New England!...well, not exactly! :) Amy and Brendon had Christmas red and green and ocean blue for their wedding colors. We had a great time shooting portraits after the ceremony and we even staged our own fake reality shot...Brendon getting arrested! That was one of the groomsmen's idea. The contrast of the holiday feel with palm trees swaying in the background seemed surreal to me and beautiful at the same time! The highlight of the night was definitely when the Christmas carolers pulled in on a horse drawn hay wagon and sang holiday songs including "Let it Snow"! This was unplanned and it was a perfect way to end the night. It sent chills up my spine! Congratulations Amy and Brendan! I felt truly honored to be a part of your beatiful wedding.

Amy and Chancey - The Bethel Inn 12/4/09

December 4th was a gorgeous day in December and perfect for a winter wedding! Amy and Chancey's ceremony and reception took place at the ever-so-lovely Bethel Inn in Bethel, ME! The Bethel Inn's Christmas decor looked amazing with Amy's choice of colors which were red and teal green. We were able to do some outdoor photos near the gazebo before the ceremony as the weather was very mild that day. Bethel Inn does an amazing job and fun was had by all!

Rebekah and Christopher 11/14/09 Scarborough, ME

The beautiful wedding of Rebekah and Christopher took place on November 14th at the Royal Ridge Church of God in Scarborough, ME. The couple's close family and friends gathered for this wonderful event. The couple wanted to keep everything simple and have the preparations, ceremony and reception all at the church. The rain didn't stop us from doing a few outdoor shots! Nobody ever stopped smiling! :)

Amanda and William 10/24/09 The Dockside, York, ME

Amanda, William and I first met in Cape Elizabeth, ME for their engagement session! What a blast that was! I immediately felt comfortable with them and I knew the wedding would be just as great...and it was! It was slightly misty that day but that just added that extra ooomph for their photos. We did photos at the Dockside in York and went in for the elegant reception! Fun was certainly had by all! Perfect!!

Gabrielle and Kevin The Landing Pine Point 10/17/09

Aaaaaahhh. Gabrielle and Kevin chose thier wedding day on the most spectacular October day with temps in the upper 60's! As the sun was heading to the horizon, we stopped at Pint Point for beach photos while my 2nd shooter Lisa was at the reception. Never have I had such perfect conditions for beach photos! Finally we all headed to the stunning new The Landing right down the street for an elegant party put on by Cityside events. SPECTACULAR!

Emily and Sean Union Bluff York, ME 10/11/09

Emily and Sean were such a delight to work with! I really don't think they stopped smiling all night! Emily took us to a farm for portrait photos with animals and all! We loved the old truck and took lots of group shots in and out of it. We headed to the beach and got something completely different there! Quite an erray of photos! Emily's grandmother stole the show on the dance floor back at Union Bluff while DJ Dave Dionne entertained us into the night! Perfect!

Emily and Kevin-Harbor's Edge Porltand, ME 9/12/09

As you can tell, we had a BLAST shooting in my old stomping grounds, The Old Port, in Portland, ME on September 12th. We managed to avoid the rain and get those shots...kind of a European look! We can decided carefully on doing the portraits there and we were SO GLAD the rain held! The reception was at Harbor's Edge...a new reception site on the wharf in the harbor! It's a beatiful spot! DJ Dan Dibiase entertained us into the night and fun was had by all!!!!
